Start with your question
The chatbot searches a library of indexed scripture passages and commentaries. It ranks candidate passages for relevance, then gives selected excerpts to an AI model to help compose an answer. This process is called retrieval-augmented generation, or RAG.
Follow the numbered sources
Numbered citations open excerpts retrieved for that answer. Page references refer to the edition in the indexed library. Read the passage in context: an apparently relevant excerpt does not establish every claim in an explanation.
Choose your depth
Reflection offers a concise answer. Deep synthesis allows a fuller explanation, with comparisons or diagrams when available. Visual maps can clarify relationships, but they simplify teachings and need the accompanying explanation.
A growing public reading room
The editorial Q&A library contains AI-assisted introductions with source and tradition notes. Its articles are prepared specifically for public reading. Visitor conversations are not submitted to it.
